Hey guys, Skyler here with one of the funniest things that's happened to me in my experience with electronics. My N64's cpu blew up.

What had happened was I was overclocking a dead N64 just to test if I could still do it well. The N64 I tested this on would NOT load any game carts, but recognized the jumper pack/expansion pack. Whatever, I got a new one.

Anyways, to do the overclocking mod, you have to take pins 112 and 116, and hook up GND or 3.3v to one and/or the other.

Anyways, I bridged the GND and 3.3v lines without noticing. Stupidly, I turned on the N64 and I hear this buzzing noise.

BZZZzzzZZZzzz!

We all know what happens after this.

Ka-RACK!!

The N64's CPU had flown in 4 different directions at this point.

I have no clue how exactly this happened, and I would like an explanation if anyone knows why. A small chunk of the CPU smacked me in the stomach, leaving yet another scar, yippee.

Anyways, time for pictures.

Haha, ya we've all done something stupid to shock ourselves.

It's wierd because there was no smoke, just a buzz and an explosion. *shrug* When I felt it afterwards, it was only warm, not hot.

But ya it scared the crap out of me.

Jesus H. Christ, that's freaking wild! I can safely say that in my time here I've never seen that. I think my worst experiences with electronics were with exploding light bulbs...

My SNES started smoking when I accidentally put +12v into the unregulated +5v input. It obviously didn't work after that. Good thing ebay is here!

My worst experience with electronics is shocking myself while playing around with wall power. I had this nightlight with long prongs and you could stick it part way into the socket, and still touch the leads. So, I dropped a paper clip across the leads and was amazed to see the clip instantly melt in a shower of sparks. Of course, I had to touch the leads with my finger

The next thing I remembered was waking up with a huge burn mark on my left index finger. It hurt.

That time i wasin't looking and instead of laying my soldering iron on its little stand, accidentally placed it on a C battery without noticing.
I smelled the label burning and when I saw my iron on the battery instead of taking it off I ran like hell, not knowing how long it had been there. I went upstairs to the electronic panel thing to turn off the power to the garage (my workroom) when something in my basement went KLI-BOP! (Yes, that's apparently what en exploding battery sounds like.)

closest ive ever come to something like that is when a cd blew up in it's drive

when my friend took it apart there was bits of cd sticking out of the plastic seal at the back

Haha, it seems like almost all of our problems are with things exploding. This one time a light bulb exploded on me and my brother. Unfortunately, my brother got some in his eye...

anyways, ive gotten plenty of ac shocks. it feels kinda... terrible, but cool at the same time.. i dunno.

I thought it's better to take a large DC shock that'll throw you across the room rather than an AC shock that holds you there till you die.

Reminds me of the time I opened an old TV set to see what was inside.
It was quite a shocking experience

When you get shocked, it would be cooler if it was more like the cartoons, with noise and jacob's ladder spark jumps all over the place...

i've never had anything blow up (i should try that sometime

) but i've gotten plenty of shocks. i've been zapped by a wall outlet, camera flash, and scanner light invetor. the invertor tickles

i've also accidentaly blown up an alkaline battery and got weak acid everywhere

i unpluged a 5 outlet extension cord, and the 2 pcs hocked up to it gave me a good shock.
