Hey all, I picked up Ben's book a few weeks back and read through it and immediantly my sick and twisted little mind started thinking above and beyond the book and I laid my thoughts on the idea of a portable PS2. Now I saw Ben (Very nice job BTW) but frankly, I don't have the patiance for that design and from what Ben said about building it, it's wear down my patience anyway. So I started thinking and I came up with a new thought. Make the Screen+controler and the System+battery pack two seperate parts. So here's my final idea (as of 5 minutes ago anyway). There's a Universal DVD player battery pack that's about the same width and length of the PS2 slim line. Build a case to house the battery pack with the guts of the PS2 and then build a controller around a PSone LCD screen. Then build in a set of connectors to conect the controller/screen to the unit. The Unit itself can be mounted, via velcro straps or similar concept, on your leg or upper arm or what have you while you can hold the Controller/screen.
Well that's my idea. Thoughts? Problems? Critisisms? Rants? Out right insults?

PS2 with detached screen
Oh I'm definatly going to try and build it. But I've got this like hyper-focus mentality. Like I'll focus so intently on not going off the road I'll forget about the car in front of me. So I like to put my ideas down to a group and get some feed back on them before I start investing time and money and effort into them. That way I can try to avoid problems instead of trying to solve them while trying to keep the soldering iron hot and keep the screen verticle to keep peices in and try to avoid stabing my sisters cat.
