Half fantastic, half... wha?

Ooookay, as I've mentioned before, I'm currently working on hooking up a SanDisk Digital Photo Viewer to a PSOne screen to put inside a picture frame just like a couple of members here have done before. To test things out, I had hooked the viewer up to a hip gear screen I had laying around until my brand new psone screen arrives. The night I hooked it up, it worked beautifully, with proper screen adjusts and everything. Proud of my work, I put my baby to rest and went to sleep. The next morning, I just wanted to plug it in to see my accomplishment. And kabam - half of the screen gives me this weird white-ish thing (more like many many vertical lines of slightly varying shades of white next to each other). Anybody seen this before? I swear I didn't touch it between the previous night and the next morning.

Here's a pic to show you what I mean. What the heck could have caused this? It doesn't look like anything is touching... currently. Could some crossing wires have zapped half my screen? The weird thing is that the other half is working just fine... Hmm, maybe it had a stroke?

Also, just to make sure I have full compatibility with a psone screen, I hooked the thing up to an lcd-modded psone screen. Hooked up at the same time, the psone screen works fine but the hip gear is still wonky.

Wow what the crap?

Check the brown/copper wire connecting the screen to the PCB and check if it is loose. Also check the pink and white backlight power wire (if it's connected, loose or damaged.)

I've never seen it before, but I hope you fix it!

yeah id look at the ribbon cable.

also, letting the metal shielding on the screen element touch the back of that pcb probably isnt the best idea. myabe you should insulate it...
