I got tired of trying to find a *cheap* genesis 3 on ebay, so I bought one of these Ebay
got it for $9, and they usually go for $20, will be used in my new portable.
heck, the entire unit will fit in the cd case i used for my playstation!

Those look nifty. I may consider getting one for casual (non-hacking) gaming.
Just noticed something:

"Mushroom" looks like a ripoff of Super Mario Bros. and "Chess" is actually Reversi. As well as "Golfer" looking exactly like normal Golf for the NES and Cryptcar being the spitting image of DigDug.

Yeah I saw tons of these. The game ripoffs are hilarious, but should provide some quality playing. I was just glad I don't have to solder a cartridge slot in
I just happened to find a good deal on one
Anyways, there was another NES ripoff w/ a slot. I think mine looks cooler. Oh yeah, will a light gun "zapper" work with this?

Looks like it has "unliscensed Famicom" Genesis-style ports on it. If you have a pair of original NES ports, you could retrofit your new famiclone with ports for your American controllers and Zapper, or if you have a Genesis connector you could hack it on to the Zapper cord.sweetsuzuki wrote:Oh yeah, will a light gun "zapper" work with this?
On a completely unrelated note, does a Zapper even work with an LCD screen? I know PS2 light guns don't work on anyting but a standard picture tube television, I had just assumed this was how it was for all light guns.
I don't like forum signatures.

The motherboard in this thing is freaking tiny!!! I'm sure this is old to y'all, but I'm surprised at the size!!! This is gonna be cake compared to my Playstation!

EDIT: ok i've hit my first problem. When I turn it on, it works, but the screen is all wavy and difficult to see. It's playable, but not making me happy. May have something to do with the AC adaptor because it makes a loud buzzing noise, which can't be normal. I'll try my battery.
ANOTHER EDIT: Ok got it working good. Took the adaptor apart and plugged it in to see what was buzzing, and it was gone, and everything worked. This thing is supposed to play famicon carts, and comes with an adaptor for NES ones. cool. And mushroom is a copy of mario with different sprites and stuff. everything is there.

Often that's caused by the cart being loose. Just keep that factor in check and you'll be fine.sweetsuzuki wrote:EDIT: ok i've hit my first problem. Yeah that was a small issue. The new card slot was so stiff that it broke the game circuitboard loose in the cartridge. After pulling the cart apart and using excessive amounts of hot glue, It works just fine.
@ daleighan: Hey I want one of those
These are all over ebay, normally around $25. The biggest prob is that they have wrong shaped controller ports, but not a prob with search.
