I found 2 Commodore 64s

Just had to say that I found 2 Commodore 64s. One is a PET one and one is CBM. They look like they work perfectly but I havent turned either one on yet. They are wet because they were outside in the rain.

Wow a PET! That's some old crap. A friend of mine owned one. The thing only had a green monocrono screen and used a tape drive to load programs in. Don't expect too much out of one as they are really limited by the Commadore64's standards.

Just let them dry out; don't apply any power to them until they're completely dry and they should be OK. If you add electricity when they're wet you can just send them to Shockyville.

If it looke like <a href="http://www.old-computers.com/museum/com ... ">this,</a> it's not a Commodore 64 in any way. It's a PET, a 1977 buisness machine. Not sure about the other one, though...

Commodore 64 kicked butt. I wish I had one...

*Whistle* You have the two older models of the series. If you want some info on them go to http://old-computers.com, click the museum tab, and pic either to search by "Name" or "Company" (this is best choice).

No Im not the seller....But that is just like the Commodore that I have. Sorry if I misled you.

Almost feel bad for the people who threw em out

But they were pretty rich anyway, so I dont feel that bad.

Yeah I know! thats crazy considering that I FOUND these and a couple cartridges and 2 floppy drives for it, a Monitor and one like this. I have no knowledge about Commodore stuff.

I think I have some other stuff too. Im gonna go plug one in and see if it works!

My dad used to have a commodore 64 in our basement, when i was like 5 or 6. I have no idea what he did with it though, I might have to ask him.

I tried the PET one and it works fine except some of the keys dont work. That could just be because its wet or something though because at first only 1 key worked and now like 15 work.

Neildo_64, I'd say take the thing apart. Let all the internal parts get some air so that if there is any moisture trapped in there it can get out and not cause any rust. Also check the traces and be sure to clean the board of any dirt. You know basic clean up so it runs good.

The other thing you can do is search (google) for tutorials on Commodore BASIC. BASIC syntax is the main commandline's command imput. If you found a DOS cartridge you can use that, though you will likely have to mount it anyways throught the BASIC commandline.

If you can't find some basic Commodore 64 BASIC documentation (unlikely, it should be there), ask me. I have some of the original programming manuals with mine. Also, look for something called an "EPYX Fast Load Cartridge" to plug into the thing. It speeds the Commodore 64 up significantly.

On a related note...anyone know if I can still put my C-64 online? I have the old school modem cart still.

I also found two books about BASIC programming, so I could probably learn some of that. One is Basic BASIC, and the other I cant remember but the Basic BASIC is about an inch thick, so I'm sure it covers a lot.

I think I'll probably play with it for a while, then sell them.
