NHL Playoffs

Post by wallydawg »

Anyone else watching this besides me? Here's a playoff tree for those who aren't playing attention:

Eastern Confrence:
(1)Ottawa Senators vs. (8)Tampa Bay Lightning: OTTAWA wins series 4-1
(2)Carolina Huricanes vs. (7)Montreal Canadiens: Series tied 2-2
(3)New Jersey Devils vs. (6)New York Rangers: NEW JERSEY wins series 4-0
(4)Buffalo Sabres vs. (5)Philidelphia Flyers: Series tied 2-2

Western Confrence:
(1)Detroit Red Wings vs. (8)Edmonton Oilers: EDMONTON leads series 3-2
(2)Dallas Stars vs. (7)Colorado Avalanche: COLORADO leads series 3-1
(3)Calgary Flames vs. (6)Anaheim Mighty Ducks: CALGARY leads series 3-2
(4)Nashville Predators vs. (5)San Jose Sharks: SAN JOSE leads series 3-1

Now for my picks and thoughts. Last year's champion Lightning loses in the first round this year; no suprise really. They aren't the same team they were last year, not a lot of scoring and shaky goaltending. Ottawa is a powerhouse team and Ray Emery is really stepping it up since Hasek went down with an injury. It's a shame about the Rangers getting swept in the first round. They were one of the most improved teams since the last season, but Jagr was not at full strength on account of an injury in the first playoff game. With the playoff sweep, the Rangers lost nine games in a row. Nashville looked to be a contender this year, but Tomas Vokoun went out with a season ending injury before the playoffs started. Go Vesa Toskala. As for the Calgary/Anaheim series, I'm not much of a Kiprusoff fan, so go Ducks.

And finally, being from the Chicagoland area, it is my civic duty to be agaisnt the Red Wings. Go Oilers!

If the wings keep up with how they've done so far in this season, they'll likely go to the playoffs, if not win them.

So obviously sparkfist has sat in a basement without looking at the news for far to long, either that or he mistyped. Anywho, to critique this writing i will start off to say that tampa's team wasnt what is was 2 years ago. Also spark, the redwings last 30 games were all against under 500 teams I believe. And also, there not that good.

Hey the Red Wings are having a good season this year. I know they didn't do to well on their last game. But how often can a team not loose a single game in a season?

That was a funny picture. Shame the kid will never be as good as him at hockey in his entire life.

So since before you were born then eh moto?

I am in full agreement though, it sucks that we can't even watch home games on the tv. What kind of crap is that?

Because I live in Calgary, i'm going for the Flames. However, for a reason I don't know why, the rest of my family are being different and going for the Ducks. :? :|

I'm bumping this because I hate the Red Wings and they are out of the playoffs with tonights loss to Edmonton. :)
