After connecting some dots I've come to develop a theory.maybe there are multiple codenames. For example when it was called the revolution they kept on hinting about the new way to play games and a new experience and then they delivered on that name with the controller. My thought is that the name Wii has to do something with the wifi because of all this "playing together"/ Gaming community thing and that they will reveal something bout the wifi. Plus Wii is wifi without the 'f' so...... You get my drift?

Incorrect.
Nintendo press release. wrote:Introducing ... Wii.
As in "we."
While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, it's really not about you or me.
It's about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything.

Why cater to every whim? I see this as a personal screw you to the people out their who can't say "Wii" without being disgusted/delighted with it as some dick/piss joke. Some maturity THEY have. I love double entendres like "most" guys do, but there's a line between cleverness and stupidity. The problem isn't necessarily all within the name, but with certain people. I believe they should've grown out of those dick jokes upon leaving grade school.. I mean, if I hear a double entendre, I'll chuckle, but it won't stop me from enjoying what I set out to do in the first place. Who the hell forsakes a console because of a stupid name? I know--Nintendo isn't catering to everyone's whims; why lower yourself to accepting people's pleas in this case? Sure, you may lose a few sales, but the principle remains that, just because there's a huge disagreement over something as superficial as a name, you're STILL GOING TO GET A DAMN FINE MACHINE. SO QUIT female of the dog species.
THANK YOU! Finally someone who thinks the same way I do!!!!

Wasn't funny. Besides, Seaman means, well, a man from the seas.

I don't get why your offended by Fanatic's quote, its just a Yakov clone.

As for the name, I like it!
