looks like i'm starting an N64p

i picked up one of my thought to be fried N64 over the past couple of days and have been working with it in my spare time. i just finished relocating the cart slot and i plan to use the 6A li-polys from my snesp mkII in it because they are too big for that case (i think i'm going to by some thinner batteries to replace them but AAs work fine for now)

. you might want to connect all the grounds though because some games might use one of the the other ground pins

probably not i dont think as extreme with a soldering iron as i need to be yet

i used a bunch of wires from a usb cable

update: i got kinda bored today (no practice) so i split a controller. but i did it in kinda a funny way. first i took a generic super pad sliced the d-pad and got it to work with an extra c-stick from a GC, thanks to electric rain

, but then i took an official controllor and sliced that in half. so now i have the same feel as an official N64 controller and the nice joystick of a GC

hopefully i can start a case mold soon but i think that my styrene will be here tommorrow, or at least the leds will, and i'll need to get back to work on aquidor's GC

if anybody wants pics though i can post some

well im kinda bummed out right now

i was working on this the past few days and i wired up a DC-DC some li-polys and a protection circuit, i just got my screen in the mail and thought id give rgb a shot. i had rgb working from a guide on that mmmmonkey sight, i accidently got rid of a cap or fuse or something like that and blue was all messed up. i tried jumping the spot were it was and now there is way to much green, even when i try just composite

Hopefully i will be able to take the part off of another N64 i have lying around because i already had a controller wired some parts on the way and a case planned. to bad i went and copulate it up.

I really don't see what the big deal is with RBG. I was dinking around with one of my Genesis V2's the other day (maybe my next portable

) and just wired it up to a spare Hip gear....sure, it was cleaner and sharper than composite, but I really don't think it's worth the effort.

Back on track: Great job on it so far! Are you gonna vac-form the case as usual, or try a franken/case mod? Either way, you won't dissapoint, seeing you past work. And I'd listen to Daguuy on the grounds; better safe than sorry!

Well, I've actually never used a Hip Gear (my first is coming this week). I actually harvested this screen out of a NESp I grabbed on Ebay. Because of the small size and the power consumption, I assumed it was a Hip Gear, but it probably wasn't if a Hip Gear is incapable of RBG. I'll see if I can get that NESp back from a friend and take pics of the screen guts, if you're that interested in it.
