Firmware 2.7 for PSP

Not sure how many people know about this but it's one of the best updates so far.

This time Sony added the ability to play .swf (flash) files in the PSP web browser. I've been playing pong, tetris and other flash games from miniclip and watching a few vids and games from Newgrounds for the last few hours, adds a lot of fun plus unlike homebrew on 2.5 and 2.6 you don't have to spend 10 minutes loading GTA and the homebrew program to play a game.

Also another big thing is a game company in Japan has released the first PSP demo, i've been playing it for over an hour and man is it ever fun, kinda remenisent of Katamari, unfortunatly it's in Japanese but still fun as heck.

Also now you can save RSS feeds so you don't have to within 30 ft of a hotspot to lissen to your RSS music.

The only problem is you can't play Flash movies or games over 2mb or else you'll get a "Out of memory" error. Makes me wonder what Sony was thinking when they decided that you should be restricted to only use the 4 mb of onboard DRAM instead of being able to load memory off your memory stick.

Hopefully this demo and Flash is a sign that Sony is finaly getting on the right track as far as updates go. Hopefully they will bring out demos like there is on Xbox Live, where almost every game has a demo avalable for free. Hopefully thats also what the PSP download system will be like too.

I'm gonna try the firmware launcher. I dont want to upgrade. PSP is my sweet emulating Portable!

I would love to have a PSP at 1.5 or 2.0 because it's really easy to run homebrew. With 2.5 and 2.6 You have to (in this order)

1. Turn on PSP and load up the UMD
2. Play through all the NON-skipable opening movies
3. Auto load your main charictor
4. Press start and go to load game
5. Load the Bootloader gamesave
6. Wait for the Bootloader to load and then select a game
7. Wait for the game to load, sometimes the game won't load and you need to restart your psp
8. Play game

This was way is too much effort and and I don't really care about SNES games anymore, I just can't wait for 3.0 so I can play FFVII and FFVIII on my PSP

ah, my good ol' 1.5.....and my brother's 2.6

.....I'm waiting until the PSone emulator to upgrade the 2.6. Unless they have new video support, I won't update without getting the emulator

Make sure your cache is at full capacity.
