Game Boy Advance SP Battery

Has anyone used GBA SP batteries in their portable projects? At 3.6v/700mah, a pair of them would be more than enough to run a Hip Gear and a GOAC or NOAC, but has anybody tried it?

a ds batt is a good li-ion with 3.7v at quite a few maH if parallel wired. maybe one should be used.

Actually, no. I hear they're not easy to solder too, and the contacts are very solder un-friendly. Nevertheless, you need the circuit protector board with it (which is HUGE) and that'll take space. In the end it's not worth it. However, buy an RC Car battery, 7.2 V., and buy a female repair part, and a 7805 to regulate the 7.2 to 5.

lithium protection boards can be like 1/4" by 1/2" long, which i wouldnt consider "huge". im not sure, but dosent the sp/ds battery have the protection circuit built into it?

anwyays, its apparently not good to wire batteries in parallel, or at least a lot of them (however, in the solar car there are groups of 4 wired in parallel, with a protection circuit on each group of 4. so i guess its not going to make them explode or anything.

i dont see any problem with charging them in parallel. i didnt do any research or anything. but wouldnt they both just take the power they need off the charger..?

of course, it would totally confuse a smart charger.
