Hello. I just started checking out the forum this past week and I must say, I'm impressed by all the portables that you guys have made. I am especially inspired by dkap01's case making abilities. His DCp and his nearly finished XBOXp are what really made me want to join in the first place (and Benjamin Heckendorn of course  ).

The wealth of knowledge I've found on these pages is incredible and it got me thinking that I might be able to pull off a portable of my own. I have average soldering skills and have rewired my share of game controllers and arcade hardware. I haven't really dealt with any battery/power related things before, so that's really what I'll be needing help with in the future.

I just received Ben's book today and I'm sure it will get me started off on the right foot. With the book and this forum's help, I may be making some portables in the near future. Maybe a NESp or PSOnep. Or maybe even the dreaded  DCp!

Anyway, I'm glad to be joining such an informative and fun forum. Thanks in advance.

Gateway to the Underworld, is that another Kingdom Hearts reference, dan?

Anywho, welcome. Good luck with your first portable, it's really not all that hard! If you just think, you'll get it down just right.

As for dkap (Dave), we all admire his vaccuum forming skills and all hope to one day be that good!

Good luck, and if you need help with anything - casework, electronics, etc. - ask me or post here!

Welcome,
Skyler

No, don't ask Skyler, ask me!!
Just kidding.

But seriously, welcome to the community, and have fun! That's maybe the most important thing. To have fun.

Making a portable is actually really straight forward one you learn the facts. Here I will advertise Benwiki to you. It is still rather incomplete, but is still a good source of information, because it is worked on by the community.

May I recomend a PSp or NOACp for your first portable, considering how easy they are.
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...
