LCD glass cleaning

I got a used psone screen with smudges all over the place, but it in all other respects, it works! Now, I am not going to say "OMFG the W4T3rRxzzzzzzz" and expect it to work afterward, so what is a good way to clean it?

A damp (with water) soft rag has always worked fine for me. I wouldn't ever use anything abrasive on an LCD.

I use windex all the time on my screen, and nothing has really happened before

....What exactly is so bad about it?

No really, I think it could ruin it if the windex got more than just on the screen part...like if it hit the stuff internally. If it was on the screen only, I don't think it would do that much harm.

Windex and other glass cleaners have chemicals in them, such as ammonia, which damage plastics. The most common result is permanent streaking, or a white milkyness covering the whole clear plastic device. Just don't use Windex or glass cleaners with ammonia.
