Which phone should I get? (picture warning)

Post by Motoman »

Well my crappy Motorola V180 has pissed me off for the last time. Now I'm considering getting a new phone and have a $280 budget. (Unless i absolutely love it and i'll go for more,) I'v narrowed it down to:

A Motorola Razr (nice phone)
Image
A Samsung SGH T809 (I'm leaning towards this)
Image
A Motorola SLVR (nicer phone)
Image
The Sanyo ESPN mobile phone (I....am.....a.....HUGE....sports.......fan......)

RAZR (can get for like 100$ now with a plan (Canadian funds too))
Functionality isnt great on this (I have heard this many times from many reliable sources).

Top samsung havent heard about

Bottom samsung, looks like its keys are based on the same platform as the RAZR therefore im lead to belive functionality of it isnt great.

Sanyo I think you have to pay more for sports updates etc but I could be wrong. (I have a Motorola V551 right now and it works great, battery life is about 3 full days (72 hours) with a full charge I would highly recommend)
I'm the man, if you don't think so, you're wrong.

Why not get an N-gage? *chuckles*

You should get that thing that was in PopSci last month. I forget what it was, but it was 1337.
Hey, sup?

Any Nokia phone running Symbian 60 are good (Yes, even the N-Gage) You can do SNES emulation, NES emulation, GBC emulation, ATARI, Homebrew, JAVA, MP3, Videos, Photos, Crappy pirated 3D games (jk)...and lots more. If you dont get an N-Gage, you can still play N-Gage games on a Symbian 60 phone (pretty much any phone made by Nokia with a 60xx number).

This looks like a cool phone:

Check it out, HERE!

It's old, but it would be cool to have. I own an N-Gage (original)...and it has a massive selection of emulators and homebrew!

Eh, i already have a GP2x and a DS so my portable gameing needs are filled, the a900 does interest me a bit but i'm still leaning towards the Samsung t809, every review I've seen has been at least a B and it has so many features. Heres a review from PCmag, click on the video to see the T809 in action, its awesome, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1881483,00.asp , also being a huge sports nut really makes me want to get the ESPN phone.
I'm still open to all suggestions so shoot!

My mobile phone is a Audiovox 8615VMC (Virgin Mobile plan). I love it, its the best phone I've ever had, and its pretty cheap too, $99.99 CAD. I'm not sure what other plans you can get for it though, but Virgin is great too! I highly reccomend it.
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

RAZR's... meh...
I had one for about two months, if you use that thing in any kind of demanding environment (i.e. in your pocket in highschool), consider it broken in under two months. Honestly I went through two of them and when the third broke, I gave up and bought a different, sturdier phone, which I love. I don't know about the SLVR, it looks a bit sturdier. I would highly recommend the Samsung, since it looks really cool and high quality.
