Gp2x Joystick Question

Post by Sweebez »

Hey all,

I found a Gp2x on ebay for only 100$, and its perfect, except there is no joystick. I've looked around and the joystick is very interchangeable, so what I'm wondering is this:

1. Has anyone ever replaced a joystick in something like this?

2. Does anyone know anything about this kind?

Any opinions/info on replacing it would be appreciated.

For #2, that's just a cap that you can put on the stick to make it easier to grip.

I too, am looking for a GP2x. :P

You can buy them new off of ebay for around $250 Canadian) once you add shipping. I'm going to get one. There's something like 18 left.

I have that cap..it works amazingly good IMO. Much better than the stock stick. It even feels slightly close to a D-pad but not totally. But I heard GPH saying they are making a new joystick cap soon. It may be better than DaveC's (thats the guy who made that joystick in the picture). I say, if you can wait a little bit longer, then just wait till they come out with new stick, or you can just PM DaveC at http://www.gp32x.com/board/

the joystick can be replaced with basic soldering skills. or you can put a d-pad in it instead with basic soldering also, there are a few guides on the forums, and links to buy the actual stick on the forums also

Okay, I really want a GP2X! Can you guys recommend one? Also, I want it to play my homebrews written in C++ with a bloodshed.dev compiler, with a MIDI and mp3 track. It'll play that, right?

Yes it can...I was going to do that mod by adding a d-pad..but I don't want to un-prettify the case of my precious GP2x. Its just too damn sexy.

@ Sky:
258.722 CAD
That's what it'd cost off that site. Surprisingly enough, that's within a dollar of what the ones off ebay cost. I'd rather get it from a site than ebay though. Thanks for the help though.

Are you sure that site's already not in CAD? Huh, oh well!
