Battery Holder Question....

If any of you are following, I just scored a NESp on ebay for $40 shipped (go me!

)! Anyways, only problem is that the screen runs off of 12 freakin' volts! So then I realized I had 6 Ni-MH rechargeable batts laying around, at 1.2 volts each. So if I used 10 of them, it would work, since I'm pretty sure the NES board can run fine off 12v (right

?). So what I need is a 10 slot battery holder for AA batteries. I know Radio Shack sells the 4 AA holders and the 2 AA holders (I even think they have an 8 ) but I really don't want to mess with wiring them together. So my question is, does anyone know if/where you can get a 10 AA battery holder? If so, where? Links/URL's would be nice. I would do this myself, but AOL is super buggy right now, and none of my search engines seem to work.

Just use two fours and a 2 and wire them up in series.

yeah i really wouldnt call that "messing around". if you cant wire 3 battery holders together, i dont know how youre going to accomplish a portable.

I'd wait to see how much voltage it really needs. The screen was probably origianlly supposed to be installed in a car where +12V is standard. It should run off of less, I ran my 12V screen off of 9V with no problems. The higher voltage tolerance probably means that there are bigger heatsinks on the 7805s or whatever they have to step down voltage.

I said this only because it doesn't look good, and it's going to be in a science fair, out in the open, with kids playing it. And the kids at my school are such idiots, they'll pull any external wire they see. That's why I really didn't want to wire all of them together. Oh, by the way, I've made 3 portables already, so I've accomplished quite a bit

I didn't design this case. It was built to run off DC power, so battery previsions weren't made. I'm going to make a new case, but I don't have time to do one before the science fair. Since there's no room, I have to make the batteries external.

if the screen doesn't take too much current or you don't mind slightly shorter battery life, here's a 12v step up switching regulator. just get a 6-8 AA holder and it'll get the right voltage if the screen doesn't already take lower voltage than 12v
