Making the Gamecube CD drive slimmer

I can't remember where I read it, but I remember reading something on these forums about making the gamecube CD drive slimmer. Can someone pleas direct me to the thread or if they know the answer please tell me!

Khaag...before trying to slim the CD drive, try at least getting it to run off of batteries successfully. Take one step at a time
