After examining the posts in both threads, I concur with Lucretius. Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, or even lower Michigan are all good spots, especially because of the large fan base in these areas. If we are serious about this, though, we shoud contact Ben and have him pick the final location after we narrow down the states. Then, the thread should be stickied and we can start searching for a place to hold the con and start asking for donations/planning/entrance fees/CLASSIC GAMING VENDORS  etc.

No offence, but this is the kind of thing that borderlines nerdy from obbessive and mega anti-social, like star trek conventions

Disclaimer: If you visit star trek conventions and ARE offended, blame bicostp, everything is his fault :P

If it would ever happen, how about Chicago? Big city, lots of room, and not too far from Ben..

How are Star Trek Conventions anti-social? I can understand the obession but that's not always true. They give people that would otherwise be sitting infront of a book, tv or computer a chance to mingle and expand their social networks. We're doing the same here if we have a convention.

There, I fixed another one  ! Anyways, Chicago sounds like a good place. Since I'm in Michigan, there's a direct train route to Chicago! We really should contact Ben and get this thing rolling, because I'm super serious about doing this.

Aside the fact my parents would never let me roll across the country to meet a bunch of nerdy (:P) game hackers, this'd be a good idea.

If you could convienently place it in L.A. then I would be happy!

Okay, here's the to-do list:
Contact Ben
Pick location
Calculate cost
Set up official Porta-Con website ( Porta-Con)
Make registration form for attendees/vendors
Oh, and get vendors

Feel free to add stuff, this is just a very general pondering. Whaddya think?

I have Ben's home address. No crap. I just found it one day and I'm not telling how I stumbled upon it.

I was thinking about one day taking my huge van and trekking accross the country collecting Benheckers whose address I already know and just partying raw and ending with the grand finale... parking outside Ben's house and arguing like schoolgirls on who should ring the doorbell.

WILL NOT DISCLOSE BEN'S ADDRESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
