Is Genesis 3 the Way-to-Go?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Is Genesis 3 the Way-to-Go?

Post by meleniumshane90 »

I haven't yet given up on my Genesis portable, in fact I'm working on my friends Genesis model 2 to go into a cigar box/container. The cigar box has plenty of room and is approximately 5in wide, 8 inches in height, and 1.5in thick! This is perfect for his Genesis 2!! It has rounded edges, and is in a strong, eighth inch thick wood case.

On my portable, i had soldering issues with the SMALL Radica chip (a 44 pin chip!!). I have only 16 left! With my free time, I can work on it and will finish (hopefully) the system portion of the portable.

The question I have is if I can't finish this portable, and take it back to the store (reassembled, of course), is a Genesis 3 perfect to work with?

The genesis 2 and 3 use the same power and audio-video plug. The same goes for the power cords on the Game Gear (which I have). I concluded that I can uses 6 AAs, like the Game Gear, for the Genesis 2 and 3!

6 AAs is not that bad amount of batteries for the portable, especially for him, seeing on how he has unlimited space in his case.

I, originally, was going to use the broken, hallowed out Gameboy case that I had, but I will save that one for my portable N64 (you may think I'm crazy but I have many ways to do that!). Instead, I can just use one of his cases, seeing on how he has 4 or 5 more of similar properties.

I think my ideas are feasible, and can easily be assertained by you other forum-ers.

Tell me what you think!

I will post pictures soon, in fact why not tonight!!

yah, or you can use photobucket
about the same, anyway v.3 is the way to go unless...
you want 32X and/or CD and/or master system converter, then use the sega CDX

P.S I don't think the model 2 can fit in a 5 x 8 x 1.5 inch box, more like 8 x 8 or 7x7...

So in my opinion, yes v.3 is much better than radica because the lack of games the radica can support and the v. 3's compactness.

v.3 = 5x5 (about)
v.2 = 7x7 (about)
CDX is 7x 5 (I think)
PSone screen= 5.5 inches in diameter (about)

edit: I'm not sure, but I don't think an N64 can fit in a normal game boy case...

Ya, the v3 is 4.6 in x 4.6 in, so it was ideal for me.
