PC Temperature Question

On my new pc, according to some program called fan speed, my pentium D 2.8ghz is running between 16-22 degrees and my mobo is about 36 degrees. Is this normal? Also this is when pretty much idle.

However when maxing about the processor on Einstein@Home the CPU temperature is between 27-33 degrees and the motherboard temperature is prettty much stable at 40 degrees. Is this normal?

The computers at my school (P4) run at 50Â°C. I wouldn't go much higher than that, but it seems you're pretty safe right now

yeah, it sounds like those temps are backwards.

and unless your house is 16 degrees... its impossible for anything inside your comptuer to be that cold... sounds fishy.

my gfx card alone is at 67 degrees Celecius, Thats HOT!...i dont even wanna know what my P4 3.2 Ghz HT tech. processor is running at

Harshboy is obviously not getting what he could out of his computer.... (i doubt he has that setup orelse he would have gotten adequite cooling)

He's talking celcius, which is about 60Â° Farenheit. Probably a little cool still, but not impossible by any means

Yep. As long as you aren't getting weird error messages all the time, and as long as the desk you keep your computer on is not in flames, it's fine.

I don't know how hot my hardware gets, but I have a fan from a rack mount device (router I think...) in the back of my PC. I think it's rated to push between 25 and 30 cf/m, but I may be off (I'd have to find the data sheet). It doesn't even go through the motherboard; I just wored a Molex connector to it, so it's plugged directly into the power supply. The air coming from the back of the unit is almost always slightly warmer than room temperature.

What programs can you use to figure out system temperatures? (They can't be motherboard specific, but in case that's the only option it's an ATI board.)

well to monitor temp you have to have a temperature probe installed, which is generally done when you install the processor, assuming you built your own PC.

oh, i live in canada. dont worry about it.

but, unless his room is 16 degrees, its still physically impossible for any part of his computer to get colder than the room, unless theres some sort of heat pump in it (which i seriously doubt). and a house that is 16 degrees is a pretty cold house. trust me. i start to complain when gets below 22 (in the winter)

One, my room was pretty cold that day. Two, I just ran si soft dandra and it contradicts the motherboard adn says the cpu temp is the Mobo one and vice versa that seems to make sense. Anyway, I just thought. Seeing as th ebios says that the mobo temp is th ecpu then it will think the cpu is coller than it is and not run th efans as fast wont it? Also how did sisoft sandra know that it was th eother way round? I did not build it myself, I brought it prebuilt to my specs.
