Voltage question

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Voltage question

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

Will a Yobo hooked up to a PSOne screen run off a 9.6v battery? Since they both use 7805s, I know the tolerance is like 35v, but I just wanna make sure.

The screen needs unregulated voltage for something, and daguuy has taken one to 9.2v, so maybe you could put a resistor on it or something, or if your brave, try it without anything. :)

Use a 7808 or get a different battery the psone screen doesn't like the 9.6 volts...

If you use a 7808, wouldn't it be better to desolder the input for the screen's 7805 and give it 9.6v and have the 7808 power the rest, just so that you don't regulate the power twice. Would this save power or not?
