i just got one of these free off a friend: http://195.224.149.146/c_item.asp?id=1519082

it looks damn tastey, but it says its 10 Mbps. is that very fast? it doesnt sound so.

im only planning to have 5 or 6 computers connected to the network, do you think itl be any good?

I'd recommend selling it and getting a 8 port 100Mb/s switch (preferably a managed one whether it be over ethernet or serial)

when i saw that other hubs were 100mb/s the 10mbps listed on the back looked a little pathetic. does the 10mps refere to the speed of each port, or all 16 togather? is there anyway to find out (ive tried searching)

it might not transfer files at lightening quick speeds, but will it be ok for just general internet useage?

itl be running off 2.2mbps internet connection, and i simply need to run this to the 5 computers. if all 5 computers are running max will any slowdown be noticeble?

You'll probably come nowhere close to maxing out the transfer speed when downloading something from the internet. Even if you're transferring stuff over a network, it's probably plenty fast. But if you don't think its fast enough, sell it and get a 100mpbs switch.
