Cable/satallite alternatives?

Hey guys,

Gotta question for you. I'll be moving into my first apartment soon, and the rents in the area where I live are pretty rediculous, so I'd like to keep my extra costs down, Unfortunatly cable is rediculously expensive, and I'd rather not pay a satellite bill either. So my question is, what are my alternatives, I've been looking at some web tv stuff, and also some special antennas that can get a decent amount of channels in clearly. Anybody have any experience with either of these, or another solution? I mostly just watch the simpsons and seinfeld, but I'd like to have a few other channels anyway.

i just use a normal antenna. here's the channels i got with it:

FOX
CBS
NBC
PBS
WB11
ABC
UPN

that's simpsons, family guy, probably seinfeld, and other stuff

A normal antenna? if that's of no cost, doesn't it make it illiegal?

if you have it in US, try FreeView, you pay for the box, and you get 30, 35 something channels

For normal TV you're pretty much stuck with an antenna. If you do use one, indoor antennas work. But they work better if they're away from the television. If they will let you, use an outdoor areal antenna for a better picture. <a href="http://www.kyes.com/antenna/antennadex.html">Here's a site I found a while back with some good info on this subject.</a>

However there's always streaming video.

You're kidding, right?

The television networks broadcast the signals over the air and over cable. It is supported by comemrcials, but there si no difference between the air and cable broadcasts. This is how television has been distributed for the past 60 years.

Oh it's different where you are then, over here, we get BBC 1, 2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5... I got Sky (Satellite) for aload more channels though

If I remember correctly, there is some extra kind of tax or something on each TV someone has in the UK, but they also get fewer commercials. Personally, I prefer free tv, even with 5 minutes more commercials per half hour (I'm guessing)

were running wire right know but mine is legal (its to network are pcs together ) can i play lan over the networking to say the other pcs networked in Â¿
