Post by Sword_Gun »

YEs another Virus.. In my computer (I share it with my bro so he may have got it.)

I dunno what this virus is called, But I couldnt Load IE.exe and when i did, Half of my ICONS on the desktop... Just DISAPEERED!

I ran Spybot It came up with "PS Guard" I deleted it, and now my IE works byt my ICONS (half of them) are still gone.

Anyway to Reverse this?

and How do I do that "FlashBack" Thing where i can reset my computer to a certain date.

IE sucks. Get FireFox. I would get AVG Antivirus. For system restore, Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Hope you get it working it.

Yeah get FireFox, it really is better and not that different from IE you get used to it in a day or two. (The icon is also way cooler )

Hmmm...now why would you post a topic about your virus instead of finding the file, going to the symantec virus dealie, and removing it?

Just out of curiosity.

I too use IE, but I've been thinking about getting FireFox. What exactly is better about it?
PSp is about 70% done, just have to do the controller and case.

stop downloading all of those dirty videos :P

Seriously check on what your brother does and get peerguardian, Norton Antivirus or some other reputable thing

Also when was the last time you formated you drive?

It could just be accumulating a bunch of crap.

If you have XP it could be on automatic desktop cleanup which gets rid of all unused icons....

My short little list:

- No pop-ups
- No spyware
- Tabbed browsing (keep all windows as tabs in one window. VERY useful)
- AdBlock (blocks 95% of all ads with FilterSet.G, you can add more.)
- No ActiveX (and therefore more security)

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Read this:
http://www.xulplanet.com/ndeakin/arts/reasons.html

I have a plugin called Greasemonkey. It lets me apply my own javascripts locally to pages I go to. One script I have installed replaces the Newgrounds ad link with a direct link to the .swf file (and therefore easy downloading!), the other adds a bar to the top of YouTube player windows and lets me download the videos (.flv format). Another plugin I have installed is FoxyTunes, which puts playback tools in the status bar (the bottom of the window) that can control most media players from with in FireFox.

And of course AdBlock is installed, it's a MUST GET plugin! If you don't get any more plugins, GET ADBLOCK and FilterSet.G for it. I've used both for so long, I get ad-shock when I have to use IE at school (and that's just on the machines that don't support my USB drive with PortableFirefox on it!)
