Perhaps I am wrong of course and will end up burning them out, but I did try the listed voltage and it was so dim that there was barely any light emitting at all. By the way, the LED's are 8000 mcd with a 40 degree viewing angle, which unless I am wrong, is quite a bit of lumen output for an LED. The light emitting with the suggested voltage was about the same strength as a flashlight with batteries just about to die out.G-force wrote: You might not notice anything right away, but if you put more voltage than it says it needs the LED's will be brighter of course, but you will cut down the life of the LED's and they will die prematurely. I doubt the site is wrong, they likely just are not very bright LED's and you are overdriving them.
Another reason why I decided 3.3 volts was that almost every other website with LED's listed 3.3 volts as the forward voltage. It just seemed too much of a coincidence to me that the suggested voltage was a volt lower and my LED's were much too dim to light anything.
Of course, you are much more experienced than me in the matters, since this is my first LED mod. Perhaps you are correct, but I guess I'll just wait and find out.
