This project is an extension from my NESp project I've being working on for awhile (still need a damn psone screen control board) Today, I got a late birthday present from my mom (she forgot that she had bought it ahwile ago.) The present was an Atari flashback. So I open this thing up an DAMN is it tiny as hell! For my preject, it is going to be a FAOAC (which is really a noac) and a superjoy in one portable. I have a couple questions though.
1. The flashback wallwart supplies 9 volts, but the opwer board has a 7805 on it, so could I supplie 6 volts to it an have it work?
2. It the flashback is a noac, could it use an NES controller instead of the crap one that comes with it.

You could probably use a normal atari joystick. Haven't tried it on the first one, but you can with FB2.

I think your best bet would be to make your own NES controller specifically for it. Simply open it up and take out the latch chip. Then connect the correct wires to the correct places.

You cant use an atari joystiq, It has some type of IC in the controller.

Best bet would be to buy a FB2. You can mod it with a cartridge slot if you want, and it works with original atari joysticks. OR you could use tact switches.

Then, keep the controller board in the portable and wire tact switches to the contol board for the buttons.
