As far as THe Sims goes, I bought expansion packs for the original game, but that was years ago (middle school I believe)! I only bought ones that added a lot to the gameplay, such as letting the sims do something besides watch freakin' TV all the time (But really that's all you need for modern America anyways, but that's beside the point.), namely Hot Date, Vacation, and Unleased. The last 2 or 3 were silly. I mean come on! Some guy in a wacky zoot suitr leaves a box at your house and you get to torment your friends by zapping them with a wand? What the heck is up with that?! Even then I waited for the price to come down. I bought each game and expansion pack for $20 over the course of four years, that's not too bad. And now, The Sims 2 has been out for a couple years and it STILL costs as mucgh as it did when it was new! And the expansion packs cost $50 across the board (last I checked anyways)! That's a bit excessive.
Let's get one thing straight. SimCity has gone downhill a LOT. The original was awesome, and basically anything can play it. (There's even a Palm port). SimCity 2000 kicked butt, especially when you added the Urban Renewal Kit. 3000 was awful, with a clunky interface and no obvious way to smoothly scroll around. (But you could always borrow money from Cousin Vinnie
There's my opinion.
