I got my screen and N64 to run off a battery. Now all I have left is replacing aligator clips with solder, figuring out a charger, and the case. I think I'll scrap relocating the cart. slot. If anyone is just dieing to see it all hooked up with alligator clips, I'll post a pic.
I'm going to leave the av slot, so that I can turn off the N64 and use the screen for an outside input since it will be soldered to the av slot.
I have to go mow my neighbor's lawn, so I'll be gone an hour or two.
I discovered that the heatsink for the lm317, that came from a regulator on a computer motherboard gets too hot to touch after 11 min. of playing super mario 64. I'm going to use a pentium 166 heatsink w/ fan now.
EDIT: The lm317 wouldn't stick to the processor heatsink very good, what else could I use?
How long does an N64p with the LED mod run on one 7.2v 3300mah battery? Mine unmodded runs for, like, half an hour. Would the free dc-dc or pth08000 get noticably better battery life?
How much voltage should I charge the battery with? The reason I ask is because I checked my 9.6v battery charger and it outputted 19v.
Screen started to go crazy, then backlight died, I think the N64 was still on. I used the battery a little before running the N64, and I didn't charge the battery all the way before using it. I might break down and buy 100 LEDs for thr LED mod, my friend wants some LEDs too, so I think I'll buy them with him.
