Yesterday I got my stuff from radioshack, and I can't figure out how to get 3.3v from the lm317. I've used the calculator, so I know the resistor values, I just can't wire it up right. Could someone make a diagram of exactly what it should look like, I can't understand schematics that well.

Does it have to have a load hooked up? If so, then thats my problem, I just hooked my multimeter to it and it said 6-7v. By diagram I ment a picture or something or what it should look like when done. I wanted to check if I was reading the schematic right.
Can desoldering braid be reused? I was wondering how stingy I should be with it.

i use braid until it dosent suck up more solder. you know. whatever. try to use it and if it dosent work then use new stuff.
yeah i think it does need a bit of a load. so put a load on it. like an led or something. dont test it on your n64.
the schematic shouldnt be that hard to understand. but maybe skyone will make you one of his pretty pictures.
your battery is fully charged when your charger stops charging it. dont try to hook it up directly to an ac adapter or something like that.

What if I don't have a charger or enough money to by one? When I took it out of the package the battery was 7.77v, so could I hook it up to a 7.5v ac adapter? I'll try adding a load, and I kind of figured out on my own that testing it on the N64 wouldn't be a good idea, I want to keep my fried N64 list at zero.
It will help other people that don't have common electrical sense.
when you got your battery it wasnt fully charged. a 7.2 volt battery is about 7.9 or 8.0v when fully charged (this is just an estimation i made right now..).
you shouldnt hook your batteries up to anything without knowing what current is going into them. (or that its a proper battery charger). a wall adapter might work. it also might make your batteries explode if you just connect it directly to them (especially if it outputs AC)
because of the flatness of nimh discharge a 7.5v power source might charge them to within 90% of full... i dont really know.
why cant you just buy a charger? its like $20. cant you ask your parents for money? get a job? rob a hobo...

So could I just use a voltmeter and make sure its at 8v every time I charge? I don't have $20 now, but I might be able to get it in a couple weeks, so for now I need some other way.

According to that page, I could use a 12v charger, just use that equation and change the 300 to whatever the mah output is for the adapter. Am I correct? (I found this on froogle vb)
