Secret of Mana storyline any good?

Okay, lately I've wanted to play some SNES RPGs I've never played. I thought about it, and after playing Kingdom Hearts II and seeing the action RPG perfected, I figured, "Why not check out SoM?" Well, all the games I buy are SUPER story-driven; so I ask you, what is the plotline of Secret of Mana and IS IT GOOD? You know, with twists, comedy, memorable quotes, surprises, etc.

I don't know if the SNES version is anything like the Genesis one, if it is, it's a very good game. Takes time to level but hey in an RPG that's generally why you do 50-66% of the time anyways.

hey, isnt that game for PS1 too....wait, yeah it is. (I play it on my Xbox (through emulator, and my iso backup) I love that game. I got it for like 2 bucks

I had that game once. The Storyline is pretty deep, the music scores are beautiful! It is a very complicated battle system, and like someone else said, it takes forever to level up, but hey that's what RPG's do!

Surprisingly though, I didn't play all the way through it.

Yeah, it's an excellent game. I beat it playing two player with my brother.

Another one I suggest is Terranigma. It's also an SNES Action RPG, very much like SoM. I've gotten pretty far in it, but I haven't beaten it yet. My brother did however, and he said it's in his top three of best storylines in RPGs. He's a HUGE RPG fan. In his top three for best storyline are Chrono Trigger, Terranigma and Tales of Phantasia, which he also highly recommends, (though I've never played it). I have seen him play it though, so the only things I can comment on are sound and visuals, and they're both amazing.

The attacks are all voiced for each character, there's an actual SUNG song in it (keep in mind this is an SNES game) and it literally has the best graphics I've ever seen in an SNES game. (Itâ€™s 64 bits!) It's also an action RPG, but it has a separate battle screen which is a 2-D side-scroller. It looks REALLY fun, but I have yet to play it. They never released it in America for the SNES, but they did bring it over here a few years ago as a GBA port. You can download a translation patch for the SNES ROM, though. Oh, and it has a section in the beginning that's voiced over, too. Like... an actual conversation.

Okay, now Tales of Phantasia is sounding pretty good! However, I take it it's in Japanese? Anyone have a translation guide? So which one? Tales of Phantasia or Secret of Mana?

Secret of Mana is a masterpiece. I remember getting it when I was 12 and being an addict. It was my first RPG, and when I finally beat it, I knew I had experienced something amazing. definitely get it. It is in the top 10 RPGs of all time IMO.

Don't we all wish. The only problem is that the company who co-made the game with Enix, Quintet, is no longer in existance (or so it is believed). The company ceased updating their website in 2002, and nothing has been heard since.

A game that i reccomend for snes is Soul blazer the graphics aren't as good as TOP but they are pretty good

The storyline is that you are sent down to the world from above and you must free all living creatures.

Its not a normal rpg its not turn based you run around the world fighting things.

but its got a pretty good storyline its not as indepth but you go around and release people and their houses and plants etc and have to go destroy the evil.

It's really a game u need to play but i swear its a great game to play

One day the King happened to overhear two guards talking about a man named Dr. Leo. Now Dr. Leo was considered by all to be a great inventor and a genius.

All of a sudden the King had an idea. He ordered his guards to capture Dr. Leo and bring him to the castle at once!
Soon Dr. Leo was brought to the castle.
The King confined him in a small room and ordered him to invent a machine that would summon the King of evil, Deathtoll.

Actually, I've played little bits of Soul Blazer, and it was an ok title. In reality, 3 games (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma) make up the loosely connected "Soul Blazer" seriess. Technically, they are more related like "Final Fantasy" titles, where just certain themes, monsters, spells, etc. are similar. IoG is also quite good, but Terranigma blows all of them out of the water. In fact, it pretty much blows almost EVERY game out of the water. Terranigma is the best RPG ever created, if not the best game. Go play it now. Why are you still reading this? Didn't I just tell you to go play Terranigma? GO!!!
