Making a Famicom portable

hey, im new so dont laugh or anything like that;p

i got what it needs(i think;p) to make a portable Famiclone.

Im going to use a Gamegear, and an Asian clone of the NES (Famiclone)

The motherboard is small (like 2x8 cm including joypad ports ;o)

But i'm wondering : can i use the gamegears screen?
It looks really nifty, and all that backlit stuff etc.

But im a newbie at electronics.

Also i cant buy a screen from ebay cuz im not from the US, and in my country (Poland) Ebay is so highly developed.

Help me lads

PS: Instead of a gamegear, could i use a GBC screen?

damn, i dont have that kind of money xd

but i can buy like LCD screens from old Lap's for like 2-3 bucks ;o so maybe i could use that one?

I wouldn't bother, extremely hard...

Here are some screens that we use around here:

2.6" Hip Gear Screen Pad - $30

5" 1st Party PSOne screen - $40

The ps1 screens are hard to find, but even if you find one, the cost just as much as a new GBA SP

You could hack pocket TVs like Ben does. It may be a tad bit more difficult, but very doable. Or you could try finding someone who ships the PSOne or HipGear screens internationally, because they are by far the best screens to use on a portable.

Not as difficult as trying to modify the LVDS lines on a laptop LCD.

portablizing isn't exactly a cheap endevour. Many portables can range from 100-300 depending on luck with finding parts, the system and power source your using, and problems/accidents that can(and most likely will) occur.

Very true. You may think 40 or 50 is expensive for a pocket tv, but it's relatively cheap compared to what some of us spend on our screens. You can't go into this project and expect not to spend anything...

Yeah, the best pocket tv's for this project, are, like, $160. Get the $50 one! Great price, right there!

Or, get a hip gear.

N64: $10
Battery: $30
Screen: $30
Controller: $5
Everything in between: $5

My N64p has only cost me $80..

I dont have a job;o i dont have money to get that kind of stuff

A regular polish salary is like 400-500 USD (on polish zloty)
I heard my usa friends earn 100 bucks a day, when they're hepling with moving stuff (clay, bricks etc) on a building site ;o
