UPDATED - Why must the British do this to me!?!?!?!?!?!?

Post by teraflop122 »

(First off, I mean no offense to Britain or British persons.)

I had been anticipating getting a GP2X on my birthday- in fact, I KNEW I was getting one for my birthday- but now that day has come, and it hasn't been delivered yet!!!

What gets under my skin is that they (www.gbax.com) emailed my folks telling them it had shipped, then a a day before my B'day- two weeks after being shipped- my folks email them again asking about it, and they were told that it actually Hadn't been shipped yet :x

I know, I know. I must learn to be patient, yadda yadda...

After I recieve it, this thread is where I'll post my first impressions and thoughts.

Because we are genetically superior to you?

Seriously thats not like them. I think one of their sales staff is a lier as I have had a few lies from one of them. I have had 2 GP32's, 2DS's and 1 GP2x from them. Reminds me. 2x has a case deformity. Need to send that back soon.

Yeah, I'm quite surprised.. I've heard a zillion good things about gbax. Although, they were a little expensive for me (which is bound to happen if you aren't in the UK)

Well, it turns out that GBAX never really shipped the item, but it was marked as shipped in their database. I sent them an email, posing as my mother, demanding that they A) send the GP2X with overnight or expidited shipping, and B) refund my shipping cost.

They said they'd refund my shipping cost and include a free carrying case, but that they couldn't send the GP2X for another 3-7 days because they hadn't enough of the GP2X's joysticks in stock :?

I had them send me a full refund, and I've ordered a GP2X from gp32z with overnight shipping. That was at 4 PM yesterday (Eastern Time). I'd like to hope that it'll be here by today, but somehow I think it'll take until monday :?

Dude, don't cancell the shipment...the reason why your not getting the gp2x is because they are recently switching the joystick on the gp2x to a better one. A lot of people had complaints about it and gbax are making better joysticks with a new design. I kinda wish I waited longer to realize that they were switching the joystick to something better
New joystick caps on GP2X

One of our forum members, tmb_ayebe posted that he just ordered a gp2x from www.gbax.com and within about 5 mins he got back an email saying:

There will be a delay of 3/7 days in despatching your order as we are
currently waiting for the new joysticks caps which will be fitted free
of charge to our consoles. If this delay is too long and you would
prefer a refund please let me know.

Sounds like they are listening...

That was from http://gp2x-emulation.dcemu.co.uk/ where I originally found this out.

Heh, yeah so do I...and then I did the retrocon mod. And then I sanded the stick down too low so I couldnt use it. Then I went back to the slippery stick and it fell off and lost it in school. So now I just play with the metal rod thing. But I am getting a joystick from this guy DaveC over at gp32x forums who makes these really professionally made ones. I bought it before I found out they are making a new stick, but anything beats the stock one.

I knew they were making the stock one but didn't think it was that bad. DaveC will make oyu a good stick but you'll recieve about 300 pages of comlaints about various emulators ;)

Eh, the emulators complaints are mostly because of speed...I wouldn't worry about it that much because a majority of the emulators are quick ports that aren't even optimized, and so far none of them have used the 2nd processor in the gp2x. That will be interesting to see what happens once they get that 2nd processor working :)
