What resistors to use...

What resistors to use...

Ok, i am confused.

I read off of a guide on the sticky that you needed a 10ohm resisitor to attach the PSone board for the LED mod. However, my LEDs came with 510ohm resisitors. My LEDs are 18,000mcd :shock: so i have no clue what resistor to use for them. Their voltage runs around 3.2-3.6v.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated

well ohm's law of LED stuff is:

where v=volts I=current or amps (NOT milla amps) and r=resistance.
So to complete the resistance thingy you need amps too!
Also it all depends how many LED's you have and if you are wiring em parralell or series.
parallel=mah (or amps, whichever one)*# of LED's
series=volts*# of LED's
-so there ya go, easy peasy way to find resistance or whatever.

V is the voltage drop across the resistor, which is not the same as the voltage of your leds.

i could explain the complicated math involving choosing a resistor, but, in the end, its just easier to guess. use the resistor that came with the LEDs. do they seem bright enough? if not, use something like a 250ohm. still not bright enough? try less resistance.

when my brother set his up, i wired his LEDs up to a variable resistor, and then andjusted it till they were bright enough. then you can measure the resistance across the pot, and use a resistor with the same value.

or, even better, just leave the pot in, as a brightness adjustment.

V=C*R
C=V/R
R=V/C

V=Voltage
C=Current
R=Resistence

now see, aint that better
