LED mod ?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

LED mod ?

Post by vskid »

I couldn't find this or anywhere to put it, so here it goes. I was looking for white LEDs on ebay and the ones that I found had a small viewing angle. So are wide or narrow angle LEDs best for the PSone screen mod? Also, I can't find the amps the screen pulls before and after the mod, could somebody that knows them tell me(they need to be put in the sticky, I didn't see them there)?

EDIT: I want to know about the angle so that I don't waste $10-20 for 100 LEDs.

there's been several threads on the amp of PSone screen amperage (official) so here the info is:
With speakers:
normal:1amp
LED mod:around 500mah
LED and brightness mod: around 350mah
without speakers:
normal:around 750mah
with LED mod:350mah
with LED mod and brightness mod: I'm guessing around 150mah (not completly sure about that one)

oh... maybe it doesn't then...
I think I was confuzed at http://portablesofdoom.org/page.php?page=video
It says the power consumption for LED and brightness mod is 310mah, though it doesn't specify whether it has or doesn't have speakers...
in that case this is what it would be:
With speakers:
without mod:1 amp
with LED mod 500mah
Without speakers
Without mod 750mA.
With LED mod 350mA.
sorry about my confuzion
