controller question

could i possibly connect a playstation analog stick to a n64?

I have the parts apart but i simply cannot figure out the n64 pinout
Those are the stranges pots I have ever seen (if they are posts that is)

The playstation has 100k pots (i do know these are pots)

I would like to use the mounting clip the n64 had and just connect it directly to the controller board...

Is this just very wishful thinking?

you can't do it with the official controller because it uses a completely different technology but some 3rd part controllers use pots so maybe you could switch one of their analog sticks with a playstation one

daguuy is right about the pot issue, but finding an N64 controller that uses 100k pots might be difficult. The one I have (Innovation 64), uses 500k pots, I believe, and I'll have a boomerang to test in a few days, but if none of those have the right amount of resistance, you might be stuck with the analog stick you have.

the thing is that i had one with a broken joystick and i had a ps2 controller with something wrong in the programing ( it is third party programmable and the like...)

But anyway does anyone know what the !@!@#!#! first party controllers use in place of pots?

Also, which third party controllers use pots?

I'll probably end up Buying another controller before this is done anyway...

most 3rd party controllers use pots. i know boomarang and i think performance and some others. official N64 sticks use photodiodes and sensors or something wierd like that

Get the one with a 500k pot and replace it with your 100k one. Then stick 400k resistors in series with it... That'd work right?

EDIT: oh wait, that wouldn't work... each position (left, right, etc.) produces a different voltage right?

i think i just need to know which ones uses pots.

Because the pots are just redirect the voltage
the resistance is just the internal maximum resistance

Oh it wasn't 100k is is 3100k sorry it thought it was a "B" at first

i think 1st party controllers work like a ball mouse. that is, they have discs with notches cut in them, and an IR led and IR reciver on either side of the disc. it counts the blinking of the light as the notches in the disc alternately block and allow the light.
