Can I remove these things? Or do I have to keep them on the SNES board?

It was for the SNES CD reader. You were supposed to buy CDs with games on them and play them on your Super Nintendo. Nintendo was developing this with Sony, but Sony was a mess, and Nintendo dumped the idea.Kenny_McCormic wrote:what is the expasion connector on the bottom for anyway???

It was called the PlayStation even when Sony was developing it for the SNES, actually. There are articles that call it the Super Nintendo PlayStation, although I can't recall where I saw that specifically (probably like EGM or GamePro). It would've been pretty killer (way better than SegaCD) because it did contain some of the stuff that ended up in the final PlayStation (such as a 32-bit architecture, and I believe some of the 3D hardware if not all).
