Front loading diskdrive in a GCp?

Is there any way I could make a front loading CD drive in my GCp? I saw this and wondered if it could be done

I know this isn't real... but what could i use to make a front loading CD drive that would work for my Gamecube?

It may be possible;

I've always been shaken up by the lens in drives, because tampering with them can cause complete damage.

If you can find an 8 cm CD-Rom drive, you can probably corperate that into the Gamecube.

2.if you wanted to use it you would have to replace the cd reader with the gc dvd reader

the GC discs are proprietary, meaning they won't work in any other CD drive, I'm sure. best way would be to simply have some kind of mechanism for the disc to be kind of placed onto the spindle.

So that means that I cannot use another CD drive? Then how could I create that mechanism?

not really, it has it's own drive. I'm sure you COULD get a DVD drive to get it to work, like in the Panasonic Q, but it's not worth the effort.

the GC disc drive is rather thick, though

....but if you REALLY want one, I suppose it could be done. we wouldn't be able to help you much, though, without techinally doing it ourselves

yeah it is a dvd drive really, when you burn gamecube games you burn them to mini dvds

err.. no, if you actually look how data is arranged on a GC disc or the parts of the disc you'd notice that's not true.

yes, the medium is the same, but the way the games are made is different (as in what the actual data is)...which is why it would definitely be possible to make the disc drive read DVDs, but not worth the effort to reengineer the cube to do so.
