Er, what exactly are you trying to get out of that? That diagram is very hard to look at, but from what I can tell you'll be shorting the output of the 7805 to ground and the "+screen" will only be getting 3V.

edit: Did you mean something like this?

Not entirely sure if it would work, but you're probably better off just getting an adjustable one. I think you're going to find in the end that regardless of which way you try it, a linear regulator is going to waste far too much power.

Doesn't your Radio Shack have a 7808? If not, try a neighboring town's RS. A 7808 should be all you need.

Uh, just so you know, the PSOne screen has its own 7805. The ribbon cables have ~7.2v input and 5v out.

I know. But you can't power the screen with its own 7805. That is like, a paradox, a head 'sploding paradox.
