laptop screens on desktops

Is there a way that you can use a laptop screen and/or keyboard on a desktop? If it is a possiblity, is it diificult?

Technically yes, but you would need a video card with a LVDS interface (not DVI unlike what you will find in PC video cards with DFP support), that's what is used in most portables nowadays.

So in short: you can do it, but it's not worth it, really.

Well since this has to do with laptop screens I'll post it here.
How do I figure out what Laptop screens are RGB and not digital? Or do Laptops even have just RGB connections to thier screen?

Laptops arn't RGB as far as I know, and the video converters are inside the laptop, so to use it on a computer you need to buy a video card, those run around $200-$400 depending.

I researched this idea about a year ago. Found out that if you want to do this you'll have to visit a site called earthlcd.com. The video cards tthat let you use the LCD panel will set you back about $300 or more. So it's not worth it.

If you're talking about an older screen, like over 8 years. Then there is a slim possiblity. You'll have to see if the video input is RGB, Composite, S-Video or standard (S)VGA. Though really as the chances are really low don't get your hopes up.

so maybe a P1 laptop or older than that? The one reason I ask is that Ben talked about it when making the 800LT

But Ben didn't use a laptop LCD, he bought an 8" TV LCD. So he didn't have to contend with the problems of the video signal and converting anything to or from digital.
