Well yah, of course Nvidia owns ATi, always will always have (well, except the Fx series, that sucked). It's kind of late though, with DX10 just around the corner, it would be a waste of money. :\
It is rather cheap though, considering the uberness of the card.

Hmm....maybe I forgot how to count.

Anyway, according to Adrian's Rojak Pot the 7800GTX started out more powerful than the X1900XTX (memory sizes aside), not to mention the 7900GTX.

I've always like ATI...kinda makes me sad to see them getting their butts whipped by Nvidia. It's the same feeling one would experience if, say, Intel was actually better than AMD.

Odd, in the review I read the 1900XTX was kicking (relatively) the 7800GTX' butt. Maybe it was just ATi biased, or maybe the review you read was Nvidia biased.

Since the Xbox 360 switched from NVidia to ATI, I don't know. That's a big risk since with the NVidia they wouldn't have such a hard time writing backwards compatibility software!

these graphics card wars will never end. each company will enlessly come out with more "better" cards, and people from either side will always claim that one comapny or the other is "better".

and whats the difference between these cards anyways? 5fps in doom 3? who really cares that much? i say go buy something that came out 3 months ago, its almost just as good, and costs $200 less. i bet you wouldnt even be able to tell the difference without all these numbers clouding your minds.

and ps. comparing cards by clock speeds alone is rather simplistic. i think we all know that.

First lets say that I am an NVIDIA guy myself

But Competing with SLi is nearly impossible with a single Graphics card

Ati is slowly developing their dual card technology. And so far it still has a few notches behind NVIDIA

However, Back in the single card wars, Ati was running NVIDIA for their money.

But that was there this is now
I refuse to dignify myself with an intelligent and witty signature

As far as I remeber the only time ATi ever really owned Nvidia was back in the GF FX5x00\Radeon 9x00 days. The FX series really, really sucked.

[sarcasm]um... well I was thinking that that was kinda the point.[/sarcasm] I mean if M$ switches to Ati that is all the more reason not to trust them. plus Sony is going Nvidia so that is even more proof of the power of Nvidia.

oh and by the way, the X1900XTX doesn't count because it doesn't support crossfire therefore the 2 cards are not in the same league because they dont both have dual card capabilities. the x1900XTX is still less powerful than the 7900GTX

I got Half-Life 2 running on a NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (64 MB) in a laptop. So I think that speaks for NVIDIA.

How did you manage that? GeForce FX5200's can barely run UT2004.

There are those out there who like to keep things neutral by saying that Nvidia excels at X and ATI excels at Y. Can't we be like those people and just...all get along?
