Audio problems... and questions!

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

I can't get my audio to work on my SNESp, headphone jack or speaker. I think I know what's wrong; I know I didn't jump the 3 points on the PSOne screen that are labled HP. But before I jump them, I want some insight from you guys. Will jumping these spots just make the headphone jack work, just the speaker work, or both? What exactly does this jump do? Thanks.

Also make sure that you're using the correct inputs on the screen. If your video mode is composite, use 2 & 3 of the red slot. If your video mode is RGB, use 9 & 10 of the red slot.

If that doesn't work, I fixed my audio by applying +5V to the input pin of where the 7805 used to be on the SNES. Though that might not work for you if you haven't desoldered the 7805.

Ummmm... where and what is the red slot, and how do I tell if I am using RGB or Composite video?

The red slot on the PSOne screen is the one with the red and white wires... the other one has blue and white wires.

For the RGB/composite... well, which one did you use for video :P

composite is when you have one wire for video and two for audio (if stereo). RGB is when you have like, 4 wires for video and 2 wires for audio. Digital is when they are all in one. Anyways, that is the simple explanation. Feel free to ask me to give the complicated definition.

Okay, I am using composite video. What do I solder to 2 and 3 of the red slot? The speaker?

Not trying to sound like an ass, but why does everyone make it hard on themselves by removing the small circuitboard assembly with the headphone jack on it?

If you remove it, you have to jump a bunch of wires, and plus, you don't have headphone and A/V input capabilities anymore!!

I just keep it simple: I cut the OEM Playstation plugs off and solder RGB and Stereo to their spots where the plug was.

Also, the experience of Starfox in full stereo on headphones is awesome!
