A friend of mine is going to encode and host a DIVX version once he gets the discs.

I tested the smaller iPod video version on a 700 mHz computer with 128 meg RAM, ran fairly decently.

My big computer is 4 years old and it's 2 gigs. So it is not unreasonable to assume the MAJORITY of users will have at a gighertz machine or better.

Discs for the hosts will be mailed tomorrow.

Yesterday I tried running the iPod Video version of the PW trailer on a PSP - no dice. Course it was my first attempt.

A friend of mine had his friend at work convert the iPod Video version of the entire PW movie onto his PSP and it worked. While it's the same format for both (MP4, H.264) it seems some slight alterations are done for the PSP.

Plus it has that weird naming convention for the video files, much like a digital camera.

So I should have a PSP ready version as well, probably hosted on my friend's site. However, it's a 320x240 version with top and bottom letterboxing. It's too bad I couldn't zoom it up, since the cropped version of PW would fit a PSP widescreen almost perfectly.

Any tips?

Well once i get the file im going to torrent a PSP compatible file. Lemme' do the converting.

I just shipped all discs to all hosts.

Remember, please don't share the movie with anyone until April 1st. Let's be fair!

Apparently the PSP version requires a bit of re-encoding to work, but it's pretty fast.

Also trying to get a full 16:9 screen PSP version made. If it gets done, I'll have a friend of mine host it so I won't have to reship discs.

OK, well, you told me to download the movie when it comes out and then host the file later, because I live in Canada and you cant ship to me in time. I'll convert what needs to be ummm, "converted" and then PM you the link for the torrent?

I can fix/host a cropped, letterbox-less version for the PSP as well. Just upgraded to Premiere Pro 2 and I'm itching to work on something with it. What tools do you guys use to convert video to PSP? I don't have one myself, but I hear it's fairly simple.

im trying to learn how to set up a torrent. i (tried to) make a torrent of the lizard of death video, here:

if this works ill torrent up any other files that ben releases (sorry if someone already is doing this or something... im too lazy to read 15 pages of stuff)

anyways. i need people to try and download it and see if it works. the more the better. be paitent, theres only one seed (me) so it might not start very quickly...

May I suggest instead using this as when my server gets a full compy there will always be a seeder. As long as my host doesnt get pissy with me and charge me $100 dollars. hell who cares ill jsut off it as a straight up download

so im seeding this torrent, and the two people downloading it off me are downloading it incredibly slow. usually i can seed a torret at like 40kB/s.

so you might blame it on mere chance that two dialup users are downloading the file. but then someone on the same provider as me (sympatico) in toronto, which is a 45 minute drive from me comes on (sniper_spike?) and its also going at like 2kB/s.

...why?

(edit: i found out why. a combination of things. anyways. its fixed. as soon as the person downloading it right now is done, assuming they keep seeding, this should be faster than bens server)

ya. I think my server might be limited t oseeding 20k per person. Im not sure.
