I got this at radio shack today. Could I use 2 of them instead of the white leds for the led mod?

They're not as bright, consume more energy, and produce more heat than white LEDs. You might as well stick with the CCFL than bother installing those. If you're looking for cheap white LEDs (compared to RS's $3+!) check out the dollar shops (Everything's a Dollar, Dollar Tree, $1 Shop, etc.) in your area for small keychain flashlights and pull out the LEDS in a few of those.
