See this is way people think I'm overly critical, because you're all overly childish. You will never find the perfect computer. Why? because computers are made by people and so they're inherently flawed.
Macs are about the best thing to go with if you want a computer user and want everything but gaming. Sorry but all the gaming companies are using DirectX and that's leaving everything non-Windows out. Though there are some games that are OpenGL compatible and will run, one example is the vintage Diablo II (and LoD).
Windows, yes just about everyone uses it and yes it is perhaps the worst modern OS there is. Reason is that WIndows is still in the 9x format for the GUI and no they didn't get it right the first time. Second is it lacks protected memory and third it lacks effective SMP. That's way I really don't like it, infact the only reason I'd keep it on my laptop is it's the only OS that currently supports the builtin multicard reader.
Seems you got into CPUs there at the end. If you want to compare CPUs I'll do that too then.
Intel, well very good if you don't plan to use a lot of CPU horsepower its fine. Though overpriced and you will really never get to the performace levels the Intel has on the box for that CPU model. In laptops I've heard it is the best choice as Intel has the power and heat advantage over AMD processors.
AMD, the standard for gamers custom built PCs. They're cheap and tend to be of better performance, strick that they are in almost every test now. On top of that you have on the 64bit CPUs backwards compatibily native with the x86 architecute design. I can say though that AMD lacks the power management and reduced heat that Intel has so if you get a laptop it would be prefured or suggested that you have and Intel processor.
There are other CPUs, but really only two PC chip makers now. I'm not going to get into PPC as for the most part it's dead.
