do you have any screenshots of your portable so I could make a logo for it? cause I'll make a logo but I want to be influenced by the portable itself

its under construction. It will be black and ice blue though

Yeah back to work. I looked at it today and I am messing witht the controller extending wires cutting and stuff. I want to have a coverd game disc so I'm thinking a dsign llike bens portable psone in the boko where the screeen covers it. I was thinking of getting alaser engraved case for quality and am in the process of finding one. A big question I have is batteries. Should I spring for li-poly. Annd if so how many and where to buy them?

Well this is a bump and a renewel. I was doing some cleaning today and ound my sorry excuse for a portabl dreamcast. It scremed from the depths of its silicon soul, "FINISH ME!:. I said I've moved on I'm rebuilding my Atari Portable. It exclaimed, "Why not fix me too?". So I ditched the quamtum fighter pad and picked up an official controller, powercord and video cord. I truned it on, It works golly gee. I forgot how small the dreamcast is. Since I will be using an official controller, I read up on the hall effect switches witch I might replace for the shoulder triggers or at least move them onto a sperate board, but that means surface mount soldering. I had to change my portable from landscape to portrat, but I always thought thngs looked better in portrait. I'm gonna look into Li-POly batteries and I'm desiging a battery diagram with my dad tomorrow. My PSOne screen has been sitting in my closet for like 6 months, so I hope it still works. I'm gonna build the case witha combination of polysterence and frankenstiening. If I use some bondo and paint it will look good. I want to keep the handles from the controller in cause they look good and the face of the psone screen cause that fits well and looks good. depending on how tings work out the disc will be below the screen or on the back with a cheap cover ala Ben's CNC Psone from the book. I'm gonna use an automatic switch for the player one controller and I'm keeping all of the ports so I can plug in my keyboad and mouse. Man I wrote a lot. Well I kinda just had a Jimmy Nuetron brain blast. The Grateful Dead tends to do that to me. Well untilo next time. So if anyone knows of a good battery source do tell.

you can't do that because CD-rom drives can't read GDs

Looks nice....I probably would use that onem its simple and it says it. Thanks.

Edit- I decided to take the analognes(sp) out of the triggers does anyone see a problem with that. I found trhe pinout for the hall effect switches. Are there any games where that function would be important?

Wire them to tactile switches. At least you will have them.

Otherwise, you could try and mod that functionality. Or split the controller in half and forget about the vmu for now, like a nes controller extender hack.

In that topic, there is some information about DC Hacks you might find useful. It would still be better to just keep the same gd-rom and just extend the connectors because you will end up extending the connectors anyways. Replacing the gd-rom with a cd-rom only limits your game selection to warez (oh noes!) and homebrew, and it does not allow faster reads regardless because that is a firmware setting.

I wasn't gonna take off the trigger only replace them with tact switches. Thanks for the site.
