We Didn't Start the Fire
Well, i have a new project in my u.s. history class. Theres a song We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel. I can either make a poster for each year (verse) or make up my own verse for the years 1990 thru 2006. I chose the make your own verse, so any ideas of important things i should put for those years. (note* I tried getting the song for you guys but i couldnt find it.) Heres the lyrics
"Harry Truman, Doris Day, Red China, Johnnie Ray,
South Pacific, Walter Winchell, Joe DiMaggio
Joe McCarthy, Richard Nixon, Studebaker, television,
North Korea, South Korea, Marilyn Monroe
Rosenbergs, H-bomb, Sugar Ray, Panmunjom,
Brando, "The King and I" and "The Catcher in the Rye"
Eisenhower, vaccine, England's got a new Queen,
Marciano, Liberace, Santayana good bye
CHORUS
We didn't start the fire
It was always burning since the world's been turning.
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it but we tried to fight it.

Ha! Gamer2 believed him! We had to sing this for 8th grade graduation. Not fun. We also had to do something like this, adapt it to today. It was really funny, our teacher said, "You, what would do you think we could do to adapt this today?" and I said, "Get rid of spam." I knew it, but one kid in our class's nickname was spam, so it was pretty funny. He had this nickname because the math techer saw his stenciled tshirt (which is against dress code), and it said "SPAM" on it, so he always called him Spam.

Personally I'm a fan of Billy Joel and enjoy this song, but I agree with you completely. I can't imagine a large group of people singing this song, especially since for most of the time I'd say it's more saying/yelling it, you really lose all the emotion when it's just a bunch of 8th graders wanting to get it the hell over with, lol.vb_master wrote:Ha!
