Damn it all to HELL!

Post by cowsgoquack101 »

Sorry for the topic name but I'm really PO'ed at the moment. First off I bought my DS back in January of 05' and it's served me well for the long year. It has scratches and what not but no hardware or control problems...until last week. I was playing MarioKart DS when I noticed I couldn't drift. So I then clean all of my DS buttons to see if that was the problem, but nothing. So I got really upset and I conteacted my local participating EB games to see if I could get it fixed, but it was off warranty 2 months ago! Then I went to Nintendo. com to see if I can get a repair on it, the warranty at Nintendo was still good for a month so I call them and this is my problem.

Nintendo wants $75 to fix my R button!

I'm thinking if giving up on the whole thing and sell it on eBay and just buy another. I'm not making this thread helpful for fanboys or anything like that, but damn it all I want to drift!

Any ideas on what to do?

I'd do it again

Or see if that's really the problem.

I'd go inside it and clean the innards. And if worst comes to worst, replace the whatevers in there with a tact switch on your R.

Eat the babies of Nintendo employees... That's what I do when I get mad... I just shovel whosever's babies down my gullet and feel happy inside (with A1 of course, I'm not a savage)... Babies happen to be nutritious and delicious. Whoever says you shouldn't eat babies because it's morally wrong, tell them theirs are next...

Disclaimer: This is not a joke, I do eat babies. In terms you can understand, don't make me angry or I'll eat yours (and if they ain't here yet, I'll get 'em later)...

if the warrenty expired, open it up and see what's wrong, it's probably easy to fix

Why? They taste good... I'm 12, was it your baby I ate last Tuesday? I couldn't help it, it looked so delicious all lying there wrapped in blankets on that doorstep... An I just happened to be carrying A1 with me, so I had a snack...

Oh No! Darth Fett's space bar is broken! No offense.

And Fanboy you are making a big you know what of your self if you take my meaning......

I really have no idea about the ds but do you know what kind of button mechanism is under the plastic R button? (tact switch, membrane, etc.) that might help us figure out what's wrong with it.

it's probably a tact switch that stands up verticly, that's what it is in GBA. you can get replacements from a broken computer joystick (if you have any, those are jackpots for tact switches and stuff)

 you gave me an idea!

About the DS, since it's not covered under any warranty anymore it won't do any harm to open it up and look. I'm not sure if it's a tact switch in there or if it's a rubber pad thing like NES controllers. But if you do replace the rubber pad with a tact switch, replace both of the shoulder buttons with tact switches so it's even. (and if this is the case, you'll have much sharper shoulder buttons than a stock DS) I think it may be tact switches already.

EDIT: Idea! Image
