Total n00b attempting NESp here!

Hi! I'm new to the forums, and I'm building a portable NES for the science fair. I'm using a PSOne LCD screen, unmodded, a Yobo FC Game Console (U.S. Edition), and the controller that came with that system. For the case, I am using a basswood box and painting it gold. I really have no clue what I'm doing with all the tech stuff, so I could use a few pointers! Any wisdom you guys would like to state (general or specific to this topic, I don't care). Thanks!

EDIT: Do any of you know CronoTriggerfan? Because he goes to my school too and we are working togheter. Still, I wanna learn this stuff on my own, not just from him.

Also, are there any tricks of traps to watch out for when hacking up a yobo NES

You should do the LED mod on the screen. That way you can get some decent play time. Ben's book should help a lot, too.

Get rid of the whole power board of the NES and use the 7805 regulator on the screen and the ground wire. Also, for video and audio, use the wires coming out of the cable ports. also, if you are willing for all the work, get rid of the controller board and solder the ports direct to the main board.
