wrong theory or easy peasy portable?

Hi,
I just had an idea though I'm not sure if it will work. Instead of soldering into the system thingy couldn't you just use the DC (power cord... not sure about DC) plug and cut it 1/2 way. Then couldn't you solder that wire to another wire connecting to the batteries. I think it's possible but can someone confirm that? Thanks!

! I still have one question... Couldn't I possibly use the car adaptor as a power plug (and do what I stated earlier) to the battery pack?

Wow!!! that makes most portables super duper easy!!! Also that means you can switch between home console and portable easy (if a built in controller isn't quite so built in but somewhat). Thanks a bunch everyone!

edit: wait a second... I just read something about bypassing a 7805/whatever... can someone tell me how to do it? And even if I do bypass the 7805, could you still leave the adaptor power cord alone and plug the adaptor to either wall outlet or have the portable thing go on batteries.

Some things won't work, like the plugs that are just plugs and have no big box things at the end, for those are the ones that take unregulated 120 V (Old PSONE, Sega Saturn, some more), and I don't think you can emulate 120 V.!

yeah, playstation connectors are incompatible with nintendo, etc.

and when I say deep I mean go all the way and open up the thing and make a full blown portable.

oh... so basically what you're saying is you probably shouldn't just solder those 2 wires together and have... 10 volts? Instead I should bypass or whatever the 7805... but can smoeone tell me how to bypass the 7805 (what wires to solder, etc)?
edit: would this work?(Thanks Triton, I got it from your SNESp thingy):
so basically the screen's (ground?) goes to the output of the sega 7805 and input of 7805/batteries. Then the ground of the 7805 goes to (the ground of the sega or leave it alone?)

I hope that diode symbol is actually an LED, it seems kind of stupid to jump output into input. Woudln't you put the LED on output and then jump the other end of the LED to ground?

*sigh* I just realized what an earlier post actually meant... you have to emulate the input voltage not output

. So my "easy peasy" portable plan won't work quite the way I planned to, and I just decided to give up on that bypassing thing... so I guess I will use that easy phono plug attatchment and revert to an earlier message:
