Woah Lucky!

Post by Sword_Gun »

Hey, I was walking home from the gym, and I found a Sony WalkMan NET MD player :D (takes the Plastic Covered Disks) 9It came with one in it :D)
Lucky find but there are 3 problems with it.

1) The Play Button Is kinda stuck half way down so the player doesnt reconzie when i press the button., So they Only way i can Make it play is if i take a pen and press hard on it. (Anyway to fix that?)

2: When i play the disk, it makes this sketching noise, kinda like the XBOX when it reads a scratched disk, Can anyone tell me why it does that?

3: Its Missing a Plastic Cover for the screen, and The Rubber buttons that go Ontop the buttons on the player.

Luck find Anyway, I may take it apart, But i got all the screws off, and it doesnt even budge ( The inside looks like it takes taps, so I cant take it apart)

-Sword

oh and guess what? Theres a song called *O* On it ...haha.

MD player? Sweetness! If it's giving you a hard time opening it, make sure there aren't hidden screws under stickers. I always miss those and just smash open my cases in a fit of rage :o .

1) open 'er up and see if you can move the button so it doesn't get jammed
2) maybe something fell inside it and it is scraping the disk
3) forget about the plastic cover, and for the buttons you can solder tact switches on

if you can't open it up look for screws under the stickers and then try prying it from the sides with a flat blade screwdriver. theres probably plastic clips holding it together. (see my thread about taking apart the sharp wizard and its says that that had clips and screws)

and what do you mean when you say "it takes taps"? :?

I don't get it. How can the button be "built in" to the board? Is it one of those rubber pads on top of a squigily line? Pics please! :D

it is prolly a bubble thing (don't remember what they are called) anyway I had an MD player and the rewind/skip backwards button was the same way, sooo I took it apart and guess what the problem was, the bubble was popped, sadly there is no way that I know of to fix it. hey I still have the packaging from mine. ill send it to ya and you can put it in there and take it to wal-mart and get it exchanged for a new one. FYE also carrys them. oh and if you were wondering, I exchanged my broken one for a new one... then sold it to my friend... then saved up and bought a PSP 8)

Nice find I have an MD player to (they are really the only things to come out of Sony that I like enough to get :P). Mines a much early model an MZ-R70. If you want to put MP3's on yours you'll need Sony's conversion software and a USB cable since most Net MD units don't have a line-in for analog or optical.

And the scratching noise is normal for most MD players mine makes it to it just the head readjusting.

Umm, just bypass the broken bubble button with a tact switch (or whatever those clicky buttons are called) and modify the bottom of the play button to acommodate (sp?) it.
