Building an N64p!!!

Hey, guys! Having just wrapped up my SnesP RED (don't ask for pics, please; my digicam is sooooo messed up right now

) and building a little NES NOAC for a client, my friend thought that having a portable would be cool. So, he had his N64 laying around and he wants me to teach him how to build one and help him construct. Any suggestions going into this? My pal wants do make the case, despite his inexperience

. Well, it's his portable, I suppose!

Wow, so detailed! No wonder it's stickified. How long did the tech aspect take you, Dan? My friend said he had the case "under control", so I just need to worry about wiring. Will it take more than a few weeks?

it takes a lot of technical stuff like LED mod and getting 3.3v and getting a smaller d-pad (unless you can fit the huge N64 d-pad in the case), cooling it, not frying it, cart slot, etc... it's taken me almost a year so far but that's mainly because of procrastination

N64 is pretty invlolved and will probably take at least a month

Hmmm... I dont know then. I'll talk to him about it, because he wants a quick portie for sci fair. In the howto, you talk about wanting the original N64 (black) to make a portable because it's more durable. So is a gray colored one weaker? I've got plenty of funding, so it's no skin off my back. Do you recommend springing for a black N64?

dark grey, did i call it black? it's the normal dark ones that aren't transparent
